APU Campus Design Strategy For Sustainability
Campus Infrastructure
1.9 million sq. ft area – Design strategy based on Energy Efficiency, Water Efficiency, Indoor Environmental Quality and Outdoor Environmental Quality.

- Building orientation – minimises areas impacted by direct sunlight and to obtain 50% of daylight needs from natural lighting.
- Sustainable materials – minimal use of ceiling material such as suspended ceilings, plaster ceiling and boards
- Sperry fabric roof – helps to further reduce urban heat
- Rainwater harvest – used for irrigation system, toilets. Reduces potable water usage by more that 35%
- Landscaping – green lungs/spaces within campus interior and exterior
- Reduce, Recycle, Reuse – recycling bins around campus to segregate paper, glass, plastic waste for recycling material
